This is a stereoview entitled "Shaw's New Block". It has the mark of A.E. Alden, Photographer on the reverse.
I believe it is from the late 1870's. I can place several businesses in an 1876 city directory, including Mrs. L.M. Burdett (milliner, 330 Main St.), H.W. Shillingford (fancy goods, 324 Main St.), and Singer Manufacturing Co. (320 Main St.). Shaw's Block is listed as 370 to 376 Main St. in the same directory.
What is interesting about this photo is that the building on the left appears to be an old house that had an addition put onto the front to make it into a storefront. I guess that is what progress was about in the 1870's.
